Welcome Back to Term 2

This term has many sporting events, in particular the Athletics Carnival in Week 9. This year the Carnival days will be Monday 12th June and Thursday 15th June. Good luck to all students going to Cassowary Coast trials or Peninsula trials for different sporting events this term.

A huge thank you to the P&F for once again running the Pie Drive. I would like to acknowledge in particular Marie Vipiana for coordinating this fundraiser for the P&F and of course those parents that help on pie delivery day. This could not be possible without the support of Bryn & April Walton from Tully Bakery who prepare and supply our delicious pies – hands down the best curry pie in FNQ! Thanks once again Bryn & April for your excellent culinary skills.

You may have also seen our Facebook post about the extremely generous donation from the St. Gerard Committee. The St. Gerard Committee goes quietly about supporting St. Clare’s each and every year and we are very appreciative of their support. This recent donation will go towards some new play equipment for the downstairs sand pit. I am expecting a delivery of trucks, tippers, diggers, spades, scoops and buckets early next week. The tuckshop has also benefited from a donation from the St. Gerard Committee to put towards new equipment – thank you very much!

As you would have noticed, the building project for new student amenities and a multi-purpose classroom space is well under way. Our access around the school has changed and everyone is handling it beautifully. It looks like a large majority of the demolition work has been done already and with a delivery of Besser blocks this morning, construction will start soon. We won’t be sad to see the jackhammer put away! The expected completion date for these works is August 18th, so send prayers for fine weather and plentiful supplies of building materials.

A gate has been installed at the front of the school. Students can still enter this way in the morning, as the gate will be open for students. We will close the gate at 9am each day. Any students arriving after 8:45 am should be signed in at the office before going to their classroom.

Fete packs are heading home this week! Please keep an eye out for them and we look forward to your support of the Fete in whatever way you can.

Blessings for the weeks ahead.

Thank you to our families who did not let the rain deter them from attending the ANZAC Parade last week.
